UCT's Stay&Connect division manages enquiries for sports facilities at the University of Cape Town (UCT) that can be hired for sports events and/or in combination with holiday accommodation. Event organisers, tour operators as well as visiting groups, teams and clubs will find our offerings compelling and convenient.
Offerings include:
- Broad range of sports facilities for competitions, spectator sports and participatory sports
- Multi-purpose and multi-function spaces that can be converted to suit a broad range of requirements
- Facilities include spectator areas, changing rooms, parking areas and other features
- Dedicated UCT Sports Centre for sports competitions and other events, such as conferences and fairs, with social and viewing areas, zones for registration, media and /or promotion, parking and other features
- On-site accommodation can be arranged for group bookings and/or multi-day events
- Experienced team on your side for professional events
Facilities include a multi-purpose indoor sports complex, astroturf pitches, changing rooms, spectator zones, parking, and outdoor arenas.
- The UCT Sports Centre (multi-purpose 2 376 m² indoor area), the Woolsack Cricket Oval, the UCT FC Kopano Astroturf, and the UCT Gym & Fitness Centre (including pool) are all available for booking/hire by groups.
- UCT sports facilities include: astro turf hockey & football pitches, indoor sports complex, tennis/netball courts, rugby/cricket fields, a rowing club boat shed, fitness centre with HIIT/CrossFit and a pool.
These show that UCT has substantial shared sports infrastructure (for students, staff and external groups) and that these facilities are available for external booking/usage at reasonable rates.
Public sporting events with UCT campus as venue
In 2024, the iconic annual Cape Town Two Oceans Marathon once again finished at UCT’s Upper Campus rugby fields (on UCT campus in Rondebosch) for the ultra and half marathon events.
UCT provides well-equipped sports facilities that are available for joint/shared usage (students, staff, external clubs, events) and hosts major public sporting events using its campus sites (such as the Two Oceans Marathon finishing on campus). These two strands illustrate how UCT’s sports infrastructure and event hosting connect the campus with broader community and sporting networks.
